Spice Fusion Greek Seasoning adds tons of flavour to homemade Greek Gyros
(pronounced Yiros). Slices can be frozen for up to 3 months.
1 medium onion, quartered
5 garlic cloves
500g minced lamb
500g minced beef
2 tbsp Spice Fusion Greek Seasoning
2 teaspoons salt
Cracked black pepper
Crushed chilli, optional
Equipment: 9 x 5-inch loaf pan
Preheat oven 160°C.
Add onion and garlic to a food processor and puree until smooth.
Add lamb and beef mince, Greek Seasoning, salt, pepper and chilli, if using.
Pulse until the mixture becomes like a paste. Scrape down the sides of
the bowl occasionally.
Transfer the mixture to a loaf pan. Compact it as much as possible.
Bake for 45 minutes to 1 hour or until cooked through.
Cool to room temperature then refrigerate for at least 2 hours before removing from the
pan onto a cutting board. Using a sharp serrated knife, slice it thinly. Pour all of the pan
juices over the slices along with any of the fat that has gelatinised.
ASSEMBLY
Fry or microwave gyro slices until heated through.
Warm the pita bread slightly. Place some chopped lettuce, finely sliced onion and tomato
slices over the pita, the warm gyro slices and tzatziki with crumbled feta.
Serve immediately.
